I hope this doesn't come across as a Dear John letter. Here goes. Welcome to the insane land of VSOs. They are ill prepared for what you need immediately. You need to got to va.gov and look for forms to download. You need VA form 21-8940. That is Vet's application for Increased Compensation based on Unemployability. File that ASAP via cert. mail and you usually get a decision within 90 days. This doesn't surprise me. The VA doesn't get a report back from QTC for 90-that's ninety days. You should also include a letter with you 21-8940 that dates your financial future and a request for hardship to move it forward on the decision making calendar. I hate to say this but you may die before any of the VSO chuckleheads get their collective $hit together and actually accomplish anything. You were in the military. You know how it worked then. Nothing's changed. Inertia is still the hardest thing to overcome. Call-don't write- your U.S. Senator immediately and inform them of what's happening. That will also get things moving. Sorry to hear about this. I do know you can get some instant action if you push these buttons. It's bad PR for a Senator when one of us dies due to ineptitude on VA's part. To speed things up, I'll just email you the forms. You could call the local VARO(VA Regional Office) in your state and ask them for their fax # and get this to them pronto. Make sure you put your SSN on every sheet of paper. If you have the med. records that state all these facts, fax them too. Don't mess around, bubba. You are not well and need to get on the ball. Don't tell them you can still work 1 day a week- you can't. You need all your collective energy to stay alive. Besides, that will give them ammo to say you are still healthy enough to work. Use the phrase "near debilitating symptoms 24 hrs. a day" to describe yourself. Calling the 800 DAP(dial a prayer) is too slow in this case. You can access the ribbon clerks faster by going thru iris.va.gov and follow the prompts to compose a message to them. That will really move the ball down the field. Good luck.
