HELP me do it right this time........ My husband died 3/31/2008 of End stage liver disease related to Hepatitis C and I am filing for DIC. He applied for compensation for himself in 2004 and was denied. He did three tours in Nam after the third tour he had some involvement in IV drugs for a very short time. I did not meet him until after he was discharged the last time we got married and raised two children and we have three grandchildren. He was honest when he applied about his drug use but he also listed all the other risk factors as I recall. I went to our local office (Hampton Va.) and was assisted in filing for DIC and that is where I am. Waiting to hear I was told by the person that assisted me “wait we will probably get turned down “then we will get the paper work on appeal that he filed in 2004 see what he listed that is acceptable and focus on that. He really deserved compensation I don’t see how they could have turned him down he has a good sound military record and received rank early in his career and then had some issues in the end. I deserve it now I took care of him and my income was the primary for about ten to twelve years which meant working two jobs at times. Here is my question what does this mean “There is anecdotal evidence that 1b and 3a genotypes were endemic in SEA. I think any flavor with a biopsy of Stage 3 Grade 3 should be capable of SC with a supporting nexus.”
