Shoot. Give me a hard one to solve. Ok . If you come down with Anything, with a capital A, it is service connected within the first 12 months of your discharge. They don't care what it is. They don't care what caused it(except drugs). Just a little longer than the 5 second rule dropping ice cream on the kitchen floor. First 12 months is auto SC no questions asked .15% is impossible. They travel in 10s. If you file within 1 year, you collect-no questions asked. If you didn't file, the VA does not go back and pay you. $ start accruing on the day you file your claim. If you appealed to BVA and lost, and later file again(A MFR),and you win, its still the day you filed that sucker back in 98. The appeal preserves your right to go back to the original claim. Protects your $ . Sweet, huh? The appeal gives us time to get our sheets together, usually about the time we discover the liver box ain't what she used to be.
